About Us

SERVICES WE OFFER

Thoughtfully Selected Books
Beach Books stocks new and used books.  We keep a well-rounded selection in stock, but we are small, so we can't have one of everything (sigh), therefore--

Special orders are our forte.  We will do our best to locate any new or used title you would like to purchase.  We ship anywhere in the world for a small fee and can include gift wrapping within the U. S.  Expedited shipping worldwide is available on current titles.

We have calendars, greeting cards, Oz postcards, CD's, a few games, notebooks, journals, reading lights, and reading glasses, and assorted other gift items.

Frequent Buyer's Club
We have a Frequent Buyer's Club for our regular customers.  Sign up (there is nothing you need to carry around to show you are a club member--our magical computer does it all) and our computer system counts the books you buy.  When you reach twelve purchases it averages what you spent and that is your discount.  So if you purchased 12 books at $10 each, you would receive a $10 discount.  (Isn't that easy?)

Gift Certificates
A gift certificate in any amount is a great way to solve that "I don't know what to get" dilemma.

Gift Wrapping is available.  Free instore wrapping, a small fee for books mailed from our supplier.

We buy Used Books.  Just drop off your books for Karen to peruse and she will credit your account or pay cash for those we can use.

Special Events
We think of our store as the community living room.

We host special events such as book signings, author talks, book release parties, the Art Walk and the Wine Walk.

Harry Potter Final Book Release Party

 Our Staff

Hello,  we're happy to meet you via the Internet, and we hope to have the opportunity to meet you in person.

Oz

Welcome to my Store!

(Shhhhh! Don't tell anyone I said that!  It's very important for the humans who work here to think they are in charge.)

I can't tell you how much I enjoy meeting each and every one of you.  I take my job as official greeter very seriously.  So do say Hello to me--and it's OK to wake me up to pet me, if you are gentle and speak softly.

I love it when you sit with me and when you read to me.  Parties are a bit scary, but if I can sit on your lap, I feel safe.

I'm from a shelter, so nobody knows about my past, but me, and I'm not telling.  It is always hard for a cat to pack up and move.  When I arrived I was very shy and not sure about this new home, so I stayed behind the curtains to the office.  My people named me "Oz" for the Wizard.  I like being recognized for my magical powers.

Even if you can't stop in to say hello, do take a moment to wave as you walk by.  A cat can't have too many friends.  If you like books or cats you are my friends.

IndieBound is a community-oriented movement that brings together booksellers, readers, indie retailers, local business alliances—anyone with a passionate belief that healthy local economies help communities thrive.  It’s about raising awareness, it’s about reaching out, and it’s about taking pride in your community. It's about what makes your hometown a more interesting place.

Why should you shop locally rather than on-line or at national chains?

Supporting local economies

For every $100 you spend at one of our local businesses, $68 will stay in the community. What happens when you spend that same $100 at a national chain? $57 goes to corporate headquarters instead.

Creating local jobs

Local businesses are better at creating higher-paying jobs for our neighbors.

Conserving tax dollars

Shopping in a local business district means less infrastructure, less maintenance, and more money available to beautify our community. Also, spending locally instead of online ensures that sales taxes are reinvested where they belong—in your community.

Reducing environmental impact

Buying from a local business conserves energy and resources in the form of less fuel for transportation, less packaging, and products that you know are safe and well made, because your local retailers stand behind them.

Investing in entrepreneurship

Creativity and entrepreneurship are what the American economy is founded upon. Nurturing local business ensures a strong community.

Embracing enthusiasm and expertise

Local retailers are your friends and neighbors, and have a vested interest in knowing how to serve you. More importantly, they’re absolutely passionate about what they do. Why not take advantage of it?

Nurturing community

Besides the obvious personal impact of knowing (and loving) your local retailers, studies have shown that local businesses donate to community causes at more than twice the rate of chains.

Creating more choice

Local businesses carry a wider array of unique products because they buy for their own individual market—the people in their community. They know you and know what you like and want.

Fostering uniqueness

You wouldn’t want your house to look like everyone else’s in the U.S. So why would you want your community to look that way? More diversity in your community only enhances its appeal.

Making your community a destination

The more interesting and unique a community, the more they will attract new neighbors, visitors and guests. This benefits everyone!
